In ten years, the technology hub “TechCity”—an industrial and science park in Sanhe City near Beijing, China—is set to be completed. The Ulm/Neu-Ulm education and business region is participating in this innovative, forward-looking project: Prominent representatives from China signed cooperation agreements with Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences (HNU), the Ulm Innovation Region, and the Association of Technology and Startup Centers in Baden-Württemberg.
Starting in 2025, highly qualified experts will develop high-tech solutions and transform them into environmentally and economically innovative products and services across an area of 32 square kilometers in TechCity, near the city of Sanhe. In addition to production and development facilities, residential and educational facilities are planned. At the Vöhlinschloss University Center, Prof. Dr. Uta M. Feser, President of HNU; Uschi Knapp, Managing Director of the Innovation Region; and Ulrike Hudelmaier, Board Member of the Association of Baden-Württemberg Technology and Startup Centers (Verband der Baden-Württembergischen Technologie- und Gründerzentren e.V.), in the presence of Ulm’s Mayor Gunter Czisch, along with prominent representatives from the leadership and technology sectors of the city of Sanhe and TechCity, to agree on further cooperation within the framework of the project. The partners on both the German and Chinese sides are exchanging ideas and contributing their respective expertise.
“The association sees great opportunities for its members, because an agreement like this provides points of contact for every startup center in Baden-Württemberg—anyone who wants to get involved is warmly welcome,” said Ulrike Hudelmaier, a member of the executive board. Mayor Gunter Czisch also sees great potential in the innovation partnership: “Partnerships are active collaborations that turn ideas into products.”
