On October 15, 2021, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs launched the second round of Invest BW, the largest cross-sector, individual-company innovation funding program in the state’s history. Up to 200 million euros will be available through the end of 2022.
To promote innovation at the individual company level, technology-neutral and mission-oriented funding calls are regularly issued and published on a quarterly basis. Applications must be submitted by the specified deadline. Submitted projects are evaluated according to established funding criteria and on a competitive basis. The first technology-neutral call for proposals closes on January 15, 2022, with 40 million euros earmarked for this call.
Eligible applicants include commercial enterprises and independent professionals, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises and startups based in Baden-Württemberg. Collaborative projects may also submit applications in partnership with research institutions and universities in Baden-Württemberg. Funding is provided on a technology-neutral basis in the form of a non-repayable grant as partial financing from the state.
