Introduction to Constantin Diesch – EQUIL

My project covers the fields of sensor technology and medical therapy. This raises the question: Why should these two fields be combined? As a physical therapist, you’re confronted with problems during therapy that can’t be solved by the patient alone. That’s why technology should be used to support therapy and thus help train the user.
Of course, it’s no walk in the park to be at the beginning of a project. You have to assert yourself and be persistent. Furthermore, today’s degree programs aren’t designed to allow students to independently carry out projects other than those already included in the curriculum. This is due, among other things, to societal pressure to finish one’s education as quickly as possible and enter the workforce.

I’m now 27 years old and am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in medical technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Ulm. My character has already been shaped by many different life experiences. It’s only because of them that I’m now where I’ve always wanted to be: my own boss.
Of course, this hasn’t been—and isn’t—easy. It took a lot of effort on my part to get started on this project and really get things going.

The most important thing in the early stages of a startup is to maintain connections with people who can be helpful to you. You can do favors for others once you’re successful and have the means to do so. This may sound very selfish, but it’s part of the business world.

I see the biggest problem as being one’s own assessment of how to turn plans into reality. It takes a tremendous amount of motivation to keep deciding how to move forward and not let setbacks hold you back. Project planning is a major part of this that must not be neglected. Having a competent partner and co-founder is definitely helpful, but you have to be very careful about who you trust!

If I could start over, I probably would have taken steps to make my dream a reality sooner and pushed the project forward. Don’t let it discourage you if an email goes unanswered—just send another one. Besides, in the beginning, there’s very little to lose and a lot to gain.
