Antigen Test: Step by Step

Ein Mann und eine Frau schütteln sich die Hände vor einem Aufsteller der TFU mit einem Bild von einem Drachen.

Over the weekend, I performed the “spit test” at a doctor friend’s house and documented the process step by step.

We offer the test. Of course, once you’ve purchased it, you should under no circumstances perform the test on your own in the bathroom in the morning—for example, every Monday and Friday—without the supervision of medical professionals. That would be extremely inappropriate—at least until this specific procedure is approved. Once it is, however, it will be a game-changer.

Ingredients
Components of the test, from the right: test cassette, saliva collection cup, pipette, sample tube with swab (with a green screw-on cap) and a light-colored screw-on cap (with its own thread)
Sample Submission
1. Let’s get started: Submit your sample. It’s self-explanatory.
Prepare the sample tubes
2. Prepare the test tubes: Screw on the green cap. Be careful not to spill anything!
Spit in a pipette
3. Fill the pipette with the sample. You can also do this by gently drawing in the sample.
Place the sample material in the sample tube
4. Pour the sample into the sample tube and screw the cap on using the sample swab (in the background, with the green thread).
Shaking
5. Shake the screw-top test tube well.
Remove the sample cassette
6. Cut open the pouch and remove the sample cassette.
Add a drop of the sample liquid
7. Screw the white cap onto the very top of the test tube. Place 3 drops of the liquid onto the lower “S” field.
Desired Final Result
8. Read the test result after 15 minutes. C = control line; must appear. Negative if only the C line appears; positive if both lines are visible. If no lines appear at all, the test is invalid.
