Just a few centimeters of hair is all we need, and the subject’s alcohol consumption over the past six months is as clear as day. Compared to previous methods, which are far more time-consuming and less accurate, this can be called a milestone.
We can say with pride that we were the first to successfully replicate a highly complex procedure invented by researchers at Berlin’s Charité Hospital and adapt it for large-scale use. This method makes it possible to detect as little as two billionths of a gram of alcohol in hair that has been washed beforehand and soaked in a solvent.
There are only three other laboratories worldwide that are even capable of testing a hair sample for FSEE (“fatty acid ethyl esters”) and thus determining whether or not alcohol abuse has occurred.
