A Personal Note

New VoIP Telephony at TFU

Ein Mann und eine Frau schütteln sich die Hände vor einem Aufsteller der TFU mit einem Bild von einem Drachen.

So even though the phone system we’re currently using is only a few years old, a lot has changed in this area in just a few years. The big question, then, is: What’s the right solution for us as a startup and Innovationszentrum? And for you?

Back in the spring, we launched a survey among our partner companies and incorporated the results into our experts’ planning.

The result: Starting in late October, TFU will switch to Internet-based telephony through the Munich-based provider Blue PBX.

We’re investing in a VoIP phone system because we believe it’s extremely important for a startup and Innovationszentrum to offer the latest infrastructure to young companies and startups. We don’t make any money from it ourselves—but you’ll enjoy significant benefits.

This step opens up many new and flexible options for you; among other things, this phone service is not geographically limited to the TFU. For example, you can also use the line and phone number from a home office. Even after you move out of the TFU, you can keep the numbers starting from the switchover.

You are completely free to decide whether you want to continue using our services or whether you would prefer to use your own telephony solution.

Benefits of hiring us:

  • You make calls over your own dedicated voice data connection with high-quality assurance
  • The prices are very reasonable thanks to the volume discount.
  • You hardly have to worry about anything anymore
  • Your invoice will come directly from the project partner
  • You can use our reception desk via call forwarding so you can work without interruptions.

The phone service uses the open SIP standard. So if you prefer to manage your own phone service, your calls will run over the standard data connection—which does not give priority to your calls—and you will be dependent on the services provided by your service provider. If you already have good connections (in the truest sense of the word) in this area, you can and should, of course, keep them.

Let’s work together to see if we can offer you an even better deal with simpler service. As I mentioned, TFU doesn’t profit from you; this is a service we provide as part of our mission to support young companies in the region.

Please feel free to contact us for a personal consultation on how you can best use the new system to meet your specific needs.

Of course, it’s very important to discuss potential devices and services with you. We have two sample devices here that you can test in my office. The devices are connected to an Internet-based phone system and allow you to make calls to the public telephone network. This will give you a good idea of how they work, and we’d be happy to explain the services and pricing models to you as well. The linked documents provide information about the end devices we recommend.

The system replacement is currently scheduled for October 28, 2016. After that date, it will no longer be possible to make calls using the existing system. The phone number range 98588-xxx will be migrated to VoIP and cannot be split up for technical reasons. Call forwarding is possible but requires a subscribed cloud service. We have compiled an overview of the available services and prices in additional linked documents. /downloads/Cloudtelefonie

To ensure as smooth a transition as possible, we are already beginning to place binding orders for the devices.
